What I actually did at that time was to just download Lutris and then installed the preferred world of tanks client to run the game. Also, I would like to tell you that earlier while using ubuntu 18.04 LTS the game worked perfectly fine when run using Lutris. I tried running the game using the above method but it didn't work.
